Behind the camera
Hello, I’m Brenda.
The way you laugh at something only the two of you understand. Golden light on the kitchen floor at six. Those are the ones I’m after.
I’m a portrait photographer in the Bay Area, originally from Peru. I picked up a camera during the pandemic to photograph my son, trying to keep what I didn’t want to forget. Yuyay means memory in Quechua.
I’m awkward in front of a camera too, so I never leave you guessing. Ten minutes in, you stop thinking about me. That’s when the real photographs begin.
